A Gem

It is beautiful, isn't it? Maybe it's just the romantic in me, but why lose such a beautiful building?

Anyway, here's some Busch Stadium trivia:

  1. What was the name of the park where the Cardinals played just before this one?
  2. Did this one start with grass or Astro-turf?
  3. Name any of the other numerous acts to play before the Beatles headlined here.
  4. Was there ever an All-Star game played here?
  5. Are you sad to see it go?

Great work on your blog - it was very enlightening. You've got a lot of useful info on there about st louis cardinals so I've bookmarked your site so I don't lose it. I'm doing a lot of research on st louis cardinals exposed and have just started a new blog - I'd really appreciate your comments

No. 2 is definitely grass.

I'm slightly confused by question 3. Does it refer to the opening acts on the bill when the Beatles played there, or to headlining acts that appeared at Busch stadium prior to that? If the former, I would guess the Ronettes, Jackie DeShannon, the Cyrkle, Bobby Hebb, and possibly Bob Kuban & the In-Men.

If the latter, the answer is none. Before the Beatles, it would have been unthinkable that any rock group would play a stadium venue. Also, the new Busch stadium had only been in existence for a very short time before their appearance.

Rob
I found out tonight that #3 question is opening acts so you are right.I was baffled because I knew the opening and the Beatles were in 1966.I couldn't think of anybody anyway.
